Kevin Darley recalls ‘brilliant day’ Bollin Eric struck St Leger gold

Bollin Eric won the St Leger for Lord and Lady Westbrook. Kevin Darley rode him in the September Classic. It was Darleys first English Classic winner. He was a key part of the horse's early education. He rode DN2 in three of his nine racecourse appearances. Darles had never won a Classic before. The horse won for the Yorkshire trainer and owners. They were not wealthy. Their owners were a real family. Mr Darels rode the bay in his first two appearances as a juvenile. As a three-year-old, they won silver medal in King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
