Value Scope: Each-way racing tips from Steve Jones for Saturday on ITV

Our man likes the look of Aleezdancer in the always competitive Stewards' Cup while Music Society should appreciate the going in the sprint's consolation race

Steve Jones has three selections for day five of Glorious Goodwood

CLEAN up with a dirty Dancer in the Coral Stewards’ Cup.

The ground is likely to be incredibly testing and, while plenty of runners won’t like getting splattered with Goodwood mud, ALEEZDANCER (3.35) will simply love it.

He’s won both his previous races on officially soft going and has notched up three victories from six starts on good to soft.

His midfield finish in a race won by Bielsa at York in May was much better than it looked as he was repeatedly stopped when trying to make ground.

The two races he’s had since just haven’t worked out for him and this sprint handicap should suit him better. Have 2pts each-way at 14-1. A couple of bookies are paying out on eight places.

MUSIC SOCIETY (1.50) also loves testing conditions.

He was a bit unlucky not to finish a good bit closer than fourth in this race two years ago as he was caught wide from an unhelpful draw.

The faster ground he’s mostly raced on this season has disguised just well he’s been performing and the handicapper has also been forced to give him a chance as a result.

Last week’s York effort was pretty underwhelming but, given most of his wins have come following a similarly quick turnaround, it should have set him up for today. Have 2pts each-way at 16-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places with William Hill stretching to five.

I’ve been waiting for SUMO SAM (3.00) to run over a staying distance on deep ground.

Her only start around this 1m6f distance came in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Although she was outclassed when finishing in midfield, she ran well enough to suggest she has a future over marathon distances.

She’s a big, strong filly who hasn’t looked at home on quicker surfaces, so the forecast rain on ground already on the soft side makes her very interesting.

If conditions do turn heavy it will be a great leveller and I’m confident Paul and Oliver Cole’s runner will cope better with the going than most of her rivals. Have 1pt each-way at 22-1.
