Know Your Orioles 40-man: Daz Cameron

Daz Cameron was drafted by Houston in the 2016 draft. He was signed by Detroit Tigers. Elias pounced on him. Cameron is the son of 17-year MLB veteran Mike. The Orioles have him on their 40-man roster. He is not the first player drafted in that draft by Elias. Aramis Garcia was traded to the Orioles.

Daz Cameron was a first-round draft pick of the Orioles in 2015. He has played in 73 MLB games and has a career batting line of .201/.266/.320. The Tigers put him on waivers and the O's picked DJ Stewart and Mountcastle. He's out of options for 2023. It's not surprising that the team made the waiver claim. They have had success with giving players a chance in the past. Jorge Mateo was given a second chance by the Tigers last year. His performance was better than Rougned Odor's. Cameron is not a good enough player to be considered a useful player.

Cameron has a good feel for baseball and good instincts in center field. He's a better bet to hit than another Tigers prospect.
