The women Rugby Cranes 7s have vowed to overcome all odds and emulate their brothers by qualifying for the Rugby Women World Cup.

The strength and conditioning coach Kigongo Sebalamu told Vision Sport that the conditions in Tunisia were a bit harsh, but they will not give up.

“We arrived in Tunisia and spent six hours at the airport. To make it worse, we reached the hotel when there was no food but we are focused and our target remains qualifying for the Rugby World Cup,” Kigongo said.

Only one team will qualify for the World Cup outside South Africa that has already qualified and that means Uganda has to win the tournament or reach the final with South Africa to qualify for both World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

He added that the team is fine and the spirit in the camp is high because the girls want to be at the World Cup and Commonwealth Games with their brothers.

“We have worked on our strength and am optimistic the girls will perform,” Kigongo added.

The team will on Saturday open their title, World Cup, and Commonwealth quest against Zambia before ending the group stages against neighbours Kenya.
