LAFC vs. Houston Dynamo FC Odds, Picks & Predictions

Not often does the MLS schedule have teams playing twice in the same week, but that is the situation this week for LAFC and Houston Dynamo. With LAFC having a handful of games rescheduled as they played in the CONCACAF Champions League, now they are playing catch-up.

As a result, just five days after losing in Houston 4-0, the defending champions look for revenge as they host the Dynamo on Wednesday night with a chance to move into a tie for first place in the Western Conference MLS standings.

The LAFC vs Houston Dynamo odds still have LAFC as a big favorite despite Saturday’s result. The hosts are -250 on the moneyline, with Houston at +600.

The MLS odds for Saturday had LAFC +130 on the road while Houston pulled off an upset at +180.

A draw for Wednesday is +360 with over 2.5 goals at -170 and under 2.5 goals at +130.

Before we move on to our betting picks, let’s take a look at how each team is doing this season.

The nightmare stretch for the Black and Gold continued on Saturday as they were blanked 4-0 in Houston. They have now lost or tied five straight games over three competitions, with the last win coming on May 20 over San Jose in league play. Despite being popular among MLS picks, LAFC has been shut out in three straight games, and they have just one goal total in the last five games.

With the talent on their roster, LAFC will also be shorthanded this week as players head off on the international break for Nations League games and Euro 2024 qualifiers.

LAFC are 5-0-2 against MLS teams at home this season in league play and 0-2 in non-MLS games. However, they haven’t scored at home in their last three games for the first time in club history. Denis Bouanga leads the team and the league with ten goals, and LAFC has a +9 goal differential.

The Dynamo took Saturday’s LAFC vs Houston Dynamo odds and flipped them on their head with a resounding 4-0 win. The victory marked just the second-even win for the Dynamo against LAFC, and they have never won at BMO Stadium. They have just one point in their history on trips to LAFC.

Houston has been dreadful on the road against any MLS teams in league play this season. They are 0-6 with two draws in eight road games and one of just four teams in the league without a road win. They did win away from home in the U.S. Open Cup over both Portland and Chicago.

In Saturday’s win, Houston scored in the 11th minute to take control of the game and made it 2-0 with a penalty kick right after halftime. They ended with four goals from four different players and picked up a resounding win despite being out-shot and having less of the possession.

Armine Bassi leads Houston with seven goals after bagging the penalty kick on Saturday. Steve Clark has started every league game in goal, and the clean sheet on Saturday was his sixth of the season.

Now that we know the LAFC vs Houston Dynamo odds and all the recent data about the teams, it is time to make our betting picks!

  • Over/Under: Over 2.5 (-170)

When LAFC break out of their scoring drought, it will be in a big way as they take a high volume of shots. Look for goals to come early and often in this one. Both teams to score at -115 also looks good.

  • Moneyline: LAFC -250

Looking at the betting odds, it is hard to imagine LAFC losing at home again, but also tough to take -250 on the moneyline. Grabbing LAFC -1.5 isn’t a bad idea here if your book provides such options.
