Lambert to Build Own Coaching Staff, Hiller & Gruden Fired

Lambert will build his own coaching staff. Lamoriello relieved assistant coaches Jim Hiller and John Gruden of their duties. Hillers was named assistant coach back in the summer of 2019 after four seasons on the Toronto Maple Leafs bench. The Islanders general manager will discuss and evaluate the coaching team as a whole and make a decision on their futures at a later date.

Lane Lambert promoted John Gruden to head coach. John was fired after three seasons as the power-play coordinator. Jim Hiller is being considered for a head coaching job. He was an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2016 U18 World Juniors.
