Leroy Sane admits he's at odds with Bayern in boost for Liverpool

Leroy Sane admits he's got a different view of his contract situation to Bayern Munich. It's a boost for the watching Liverpool.

There is plenty of speculation around Leroy Sane right now. The German winger is out of contract in 2025, meaning he's closing in on the final year of his deal.

The belief is that Bayern Munich would look to sell should he enter it. After all, they wouldn't want to lose Sane on a free transfer, and selling this summer makes complete sense.

That has clubs circling. Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly two of those, says Bild's Christian Falk. They'll hope to snap up a world-class forward ahead of next season, potentially on the cheap.

And they received something of a boost this week as Sane addressed his future. Per Fabrizio Romano, Sane admits he's yet to enter contract talks with Bayern - despite their desire to do just that.

“I haven't given it any thought yet,” says Sane. “The club wants to have talks, but at the moment I want to focus on this season.

“FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, there's no doubt about that”.

It's unquestionably a boost for the watching Liverpool. The longer Sane goes without talking to Bayern, the least likely he is to agree on a new contract ahead of the summer.

And the clock continues to tick for Bayern. That summer window isn't closing without either a new contract or a sale - the Reds will do what they can to make sure it's the latter but it relies on Sane never agreeing a new deal.

Though, it's worth remembering that Liverpool may only have an interest here if Mohamed Salah leaves for Saudi Arabia. It's still difficult to see how Sane would fit into the team if the Egyptian was still at Anfield, given the depth up top.

A lot of moving parts, then. All that's known for sure is that Sane remains on the market should Liverpool ultimately pursue him.
