Lismore's premier horse race, the Lismore Cup, is on this Thursday, September 21.

The 2110m race will be held at Lismore Turf Club, gates open 11am.

The Metroll Lismore Cup boasts a total prize pool of $75,000 and is run under handicap conditions.

The main race is on at 4:35pm.

The the first two place getters qualify for the $3 million Big Dance race in Sydney.

But, the Lismore Cup is not just about horse racing, it's one of Lismore's biggest social events of the year.

Fashions in the Field is back as are the corporate tents and marqees, but the Stone & Wood Lawn Party is already sold out.

For the first time, the Turf Club will host the a party after the last race of the day.

After the Last Party will feature live music from the Billy Gudgeon Band

General Admission Ticket - $25* (includes admission to the After the Last Party) *Plus Booking & Ticketing Fees.

If you can't make it to the track for the races, but want to go to the After Party, tickets are $10*. Entry after 4pm.

Transport

Ticketed Shuttle Buses will run to and from the Lismore Turf Club on the day.

Arrival Buses will take punters to the track from 11:30am - 2:30pm

Departure Buses leave from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.

The bus Loop will take approximately 15 minutes per loop.

Stops:

- Barham St Bus Stop (Lismore Golf Club)

- Woodlark St Bus Stop (down from Mary G's; across from M&T Tyres)

- Lismore Turf Club

$5 Cash on the bus.

Lismore Cup will not have a gazetted half-day holiday this year, as it has in the past.

While councillors last year voted not to apply for the holiday in 2022 and 2023, last year's event fell on the public holiday for the National Day of Mourning for the Queen.

Lismore councillors voted against the holiday due to the impact of flooding on businesses.

Temperatures in Lismore are expected to reach 35 degrees on Thursday, so make sure to put on plenty of sunscreen, and ensure you drink lots of water.
