The 2023 season represents an opportunity for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes to improve from a disappointing 5-7 campaign in 2022.

Cristobal sent a clear message that the 2022 results were unacceptable, as he made sweeping changes to the coaching staff and the UM roster following the year. Seven new assistant coaches have joined the on-field staff, including offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry. From a roster standpoint, UM has added roughly 40 new scholarship players year over year between the 2023 high school recruiting class and the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The latest over/under win total bet from Caesars Sportsbook has set the line at 7.5 regular season wins for the Hurricanes in 2023.

Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke will look to get back on track in 2023 after a frustrating 2022 season in which he never really found a rhythm in the Josh Gattis offense during the first half of the season and then suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder in the second half of the season. After throwing for 2,931 yards and 25 touchdowns in ten games in 2021, Van Dyke saw his production dip in 2022, throwing for 1,835 yards and ten touchdowns.

Matt Lee is a transfer offensive lineman from UCF and is looking to bring leadership, accountability, and consistency to the center position. Lee was regarded as one of the best centers in the country in 2022. According to PFF, Lee allowed only four pressures and zero sacks.

Safety Kamren Kinchens was one of the breakout players for the Hurricanes in 2022 as he earned All-ACC honors and some First-Team All-American teams. Kinchens finished the 2022 season as the leading tackler on the team with 59 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and six interceptions.

Miami is expected to start fall camp on August 1st.
