Lone Star Showdown straight up winner in ALCS Game 3: Best Bet for Oct. 18

Each day, one of our experts will offer up a best bet (or two or three) that mobile sportsbooks are offering. It might be a traditional spread bet, a player prop or one of the various odds boosts that books offer.

Here is our best bet for Wednesday, Oct. 18:

TOP PLAY

The play: MLB, Houston Astros money line at Texas Rangers

The odds/bet: +110 ($30 to win $33)

The book: Caesars Sportsbook

Time/TV: 8 p.m. (Fox Sports 1)

Our take: If the Houston Astros have shown us anything over the last seven seasons, it's that they do not lay and accept defeat in the face of adversity. The Astros have gone down 3-0 in a series just once during the aforementioned span, and they fought back to force a Game 7 in the 2020 ALCS.

They find themselves down 2-0 to their bitter rivals, on the brink of elimination from the playoffs facing three games away from home. However, the last time that Houston visited Globe Life Field, it lit the place up for 39 runs over three games.

The Astros have been better away from home this year, and this team doesn't give the impression of one that will lay down and accept defeat. Dusty Baker turns to Cristian Javier — an experienced postseason arm — to counter Max Scherzer on Wednesday night.

Seeing as the Astros are plus money to win outright, we'll take that bet every day of the week and twice on Sunday ... well, Wednesday, in this scenario. Never mind specifics, we're riding with the visitors to make this series somewhat interesting heading into Game 4 tomorrow.

Tuesday's best bet: Diamondbacks money line at Phillies (LOST)

If a line or odds are minus, it considers the juice one must lay to place the bet. Ex: Team A is -160 on the money line, one would have to bet $160 to win $100 (or $16 to win $10). OR Team B is a 5-point favorite at -110, one would have to bet $110 to win $100 (or $11 to win $10.)

Conversely, on positive lines, if Team C is +140 on the money line, $100 would bring in $140 (or $10 to win $14).
