Washington Nationals

The Nationals powered out a 12-10 win over the Royals on Friday, then followed up with a 4-2 win in game two. On Sunday in the finale Washington blew a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning and took a loss 3-2. Starter MacKenzie Gore gave up just one earned in 7.0 frames on three hits, one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Trevor Williams will make the start for the Nats on Monday. In his 10 starts so far Williams is 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 50.0 innings.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Over on the Dodgers’ side, they lost to the Rays 9-3 on Friday but took a win 6-5 in game two. On Sunday Los Angeles gave up six runs in the second inning alone in a 11-10 loss. Starter Gavin Stone put up 2.0 innings with seven earned on 10 hits alongside three Ks.

In the starter slot Monday the Dodgers will go with Bobby Miller. In his first start of the year (the first of his career) Miller went 5.0 innings with four hits, one earned and one walk.

The Nationals are 40-95 in their last 135 versus a team with a winning record and 15-46 in their last 61 in game one of a series. The over is 4-0 in Washington’s last four in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 103-37 in the last 140 at home and 55-21 in their last 76 versus a team with a losing record. LA is 5-2 in their last seven Monday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to try the Dodgers in this one. The line's too thick to mess with, though. It’ll be interesting to see what Miller can do in his second game, though. He got a victory in Atlanta on May 23, posting five strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. I like another solid performance in this one. On Sunday the Dodgers used a lot of pitchers (six in total) during a tough loss. That said, the offense worked pretty well, and four players had multiple hits. If Miller can get through five or six innings here I think the Dodgers will be set up well.
