Kings hope defense helps them snap out of slump

The Kings are sliding in the standings and hope thier offense can rebound, scoring 3.13 goals per game despite only four goals in the last two games. Adrian Kempe, Anze Kopitar, and Kevin Fiala have scored 43 goals and 81 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Quinton Byfield, Trevor Moore, and Phillip Danault have combined for 44 goals and 51 assists while defenseman Drew Doughty has added 11 goals and 15 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has carried the Kings all season, allowing only 2.63 goals per game. Drew Doughty and Michael Anderson have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares and 176 blocked shots while Matt Roy, Vladislav Gavrikov, and Jordan Spence have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Cam Talbot has been great with a .911 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average on 897 shots with 6.6 goals saved above average.

Blues hope offense can keep rolling

The Blues have struggled offensively all season, scoring only 2.87 goals per game but recently, the unit has stepped up, scoring 15 goals in the last four games. Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich have scored 33 goals and 55 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Jordan Kyrou, Braden Schenn, and Brandon Saad have combined for 38 goals and 43 assists while defensemen Torey Krug and Justin Faulk have added three goals and 36 assists from the point to open up the offense.

Pavel Buchnevich confirmed he was kayaking after his OT winner in Seattle.

He saw the same celly from a KHL player who hadn't scored a goal in two years, so when he finally did, he had that celebration ready. His goal was eventually called back.

The offense has stepped up but the defense continues to let the Blues down, allowing 3.15 goals per game. Nick Leddy and Colton Parayko have combined for 5.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Jordan Binnington who has a .907 save percentage and a 2.97 goals-against average on 1030 shots with 3.4 goals saved above average.

The Kings look to snap out of their skid but the Blues are riding a four-game winning streak and I see them controlling this game on their home ice. The Blues should create plenty of scoring chances with Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with passes in the face-off circles and the slot. The Blues should limit a Kings offense that has scored only four goals in their last two games with Nick Leddy, Colton Parayko, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Jordan Binnington to make of big saves. The Blues should win the game and provide great odds in the process as road Underdogs.

Take the Blues money line as road Underdogs.

Prediction: Blues (+110)

Both teams have been playing great offense and I see this game being a high-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Kings, who average 3.13 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with Anze Kopitar, Kevin Fiala, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Blues, who have scored 15 goals in their last four games, should run up the score with Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, Brandon Saad, and the rest of the forward unit crashing the net on the rush and creating open shots with effective puck movement while defensemen Torey Krug and Justin Faulk pick apart the Kings defense from the point. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game with both offenses stepping up.

Take the Over on 6 goals.

Prediction: Over 6
