LSU at Alabama line, prediction, odds: Familiar SEC rivals meet with division lead at stake

One of the NCAA’s most outstanding football rivalries is set to resume on Saturday when the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers

November is upon us and college football fans specific to the SEC are well aware of what this time of the year brings. The Alabama-LSU matchup is one of the premier rivalries in the sport and, as usual, this year’s version is one with plenty on the line.

Jalen Milroe hasn’t produced like recent Alabama quarterbacks Bryce Young, Tua Tagovailoa or Jalen Hurts, but his ability as a runner and the ability to throw pretty deep balls has kept the Crimson Tide’s offense functioning. That said, offense isn’t what the 2023 version of Nick Saban’s team does best — the defense leads the way. Alabama’s defense ranks second in the conference in fewest points allowed per game (16.5). Defensive backs Kool-Aid McKinstry, Caleb Downs and Terrion Arnold highlight a strong secondary, one that’ll have its work cut out against LSU’s dynamic and talented passing attack, led by Jayden Daniels.

Daniels is as gifted as they come at the quarterback position and the driving force behind LSU’s highly-regarded offense. He has produced over 3,000 yards of total offense thus far and is among the leading Heisman Trophy candidates. Malik Nabers leads the nation in receiving yards (981). LSU leads the nation with 552.9 yards per game on offense.

When LSU has the ball, two elite units will be on the field against one another. When Alabama has the ball, that will not be true. For elite programs, Alabama’s offense and LSU’s defense have been maligned this season. On top of that, LSU just lost standout defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo for the season.
