Luckiest punter ever wins £4.9MILLION after pulling off 'one of the greatest feats in horse racing history'

THE luckiest punter ever is £4.9million richer after miraculously predicting where all 12 horses would finish in a race.

The odds of the freak big-money win were almost 500 million to one.

The punter, who has decided to remain anonymous, said they thought it was a hoax when they got the call saying they'd won.

The win has been labelled 'one of the greatest feats in horse racing history', while another publication said it was simply 'ludicrous'.

They entered a free competition with the New Zealand TAB and 'didn't put much thought' into their picks.

But they somehow nailed all 12 finishing spots in last Saturday's Everest, won by Think About It at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, Australia.

Amazingly, the punter took home more than connections did for winning the world's richest turf race - which worked out at £4.3m.

The punter said: "I’m absolutely blown away.

"I saw the promotion on the TAB site and thought I’d give it a crack.

"I didn’t put too much thought into my picks and just dropped the runners where I thought they could go.

"I honestly could not believe I’d won it. I actually thought it was a hoax when they first rang me – I called the TAB back, and it took quite a lot of convincing before it sank in.

"To have pulled it off, winning $10 million (£4.9m) in a free-to-play competition, is truly incredible for my family and I."

Cameron Rodger, boss of Entain New Zealand who run the TAB, said: "The Everest is the world’s richest race on turf and this customer has managed to take home more than the winner’s purse by pulling off one of the most impressive selecting feats we have seen.

"The race had over 400 million possible finish results and he managed to nail the exact one needed. A huge congratulations to our winner."
