Reds tough to beat

Luton have competed well in their first four Premier League home matches but they face an in-form Liverpool side on Sunday.

The Hatters have suffered one-goal defeats to Tottenham, West Ham and Burnley at Kenilworth Road, and drawn 1-1 with Wolves, and are targeting a 12/1 shock victory against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds this weekend.

Pre-season relegation favourites Luton have picked up five points from their first 10 games, more than their fellow promoted clubs Burnley and Sheffield United.

However, those points came from draws with Wolves and Nottingham Forest and a 2-1 win at Everton – and Sunday’s visitors Liverpool are a class above those opponents.

Both teams have scored in seven of the Hatters’ 10 league matches and Luton should be backed to get on the scoresheet against a Reds defence missing injured left back Andy Robertson.

Keeping Liverpool quiet at the other end is a tough task, though, and a 3-1 away win appeals in the correct score market.

Luton have lost 4-1 to Brighton, 3-0 to Chelsea and 3-1 at Aston Villa while they were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham at Kenilworth Road last month despite Spurs playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Liverpool’s only dropped points this season came in tricky away fixtures at Tottenham, Brighton and Chelsea, and they have already racked up three 3-1 wins and two 3-0 victories in the league.

Hungarian can continue fine start

The Reds have a wealth of goal threats and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai merits a bet to score anytime against Luton on Sunday.

The Hungary star has settled into the Premier League impressively – and while his only goal came in September’s 3-0 home win over Aston Villa, he may well add to that tally at Kenilworth Road.

Szoboszlai, who has scored eight times in 36 international appearances, also struck a stunner against Leicester in the Carabao Cup and his ability to shoot from distance could be vital against a Hatters side expected to defend in numbers.

Look out for a pair of Hatters bookings

The league table and the match betting suggest Liverpool should dominate the play on Sunday, so our bet builder features a couple of Luton players to be shown a card.

Wing back Issa Kabore is a likely candidate for a booking, having picked up three yellows in just seven league starts this season, and he could struggle against fleet-footed forward Diogo Jota down Liverpool’s left flank.

Marvelous Nakamba never shirks a challenge in the centre of the park and he is also a decent bet to be cautioned by referee Andy Madley, who has shown 42 yellow cards and one red in his seven Premier League matches this season.

Complete the bet builder by backing Hatters striker Carlton Morris to have a shot on target.

Morris, Luton’s penalty taker, scored 20 goals in the Championship last season and has enjoyed the step-up, notching three times in 10 appearances and racking up 10 shots in his past three home games against Spurs, Burnley and Wolves.

Luton vs Liverpool tip 3: Bet builder – Issa Kabore to be carded, Marvelous Nakamba to be carded and Carlton Morris 1+ shot on target @ 14/1 with Sky Bet
