MAC Championship: Miami (Ohio) vs. Toledo Prediction, Betting Odds & How To Watch

Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn

Toledo has a chance to be the first MAC team to repeat as the conference champion since Northern Illinois in 2012.

But first, the Rockets have to win a rematch with Miami (Ohio). Toledo (11-1, 8-0 MAC) will take on the RedHawks (10-2, 7-1) in the MAC Championship at noon ET on Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit.

Miami (Ohio) vs. Toledo Prediction

I’m picking Toledo to win but for Miami (Ohio) to cover the spread at +7.5. I also am predicting the game will go Under 44 total points.

These two teams have the best scoring offenses in the MAC, as the Rockets are first (35.3 points per game scored) and the RedHawks are second (27.3 points per game).

However, both programs are in the top three in the league in scoring defense as well, with Miami ranking second (16.3 points per game allowed) and Toledo sitting in third (20.4 points per game allowed). And the last time these teams played, Toledo won 21-17.

I could see a similar result playing out in this game. I think Toledo running back Peny Boone, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, will help the Rockets control the game on offense. I also believe Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn will make critical throws to keep drives alive.

That said, Miami’s defense hasn’t allowed many points all season, and I don’t see that changing in the conference championship. So I anticipate Toledo will find a way to win in a low-scoring battle.
