Mackenzie Dern (13-3) is just about staying relevant at the top of the strawweight division. Her last four fights have ended via decision going 2-2. She lost to Marina Rodriguez (2022) before squeaking past Tecia Torres (2022). She then lost to Yan (2022) but is coming off a hard-fought unanimous decision over the veteran Angela Hill back in May earning a ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus.
Jessica Andrade (24-12) is a perfect example of why being super active does not equate to success. She is a former strawweight champion and one of the most experienced female fighters on the roster. However, she is sliding on a three-fight skid. She has come up against the elite, but she got finished all three times – submitted by Erin Blanchfield, knocked out by Xiaonan Yan and submitted by Tatiana Suarez which was her fourth fight of the year.

Dern gets a big name and despite the form, Andrade will be a huge test. The former champion is the most powerful fighter in the division. She is not a technical striker by any means, but she has rare knockout power and she will look to pierce the porous defence of Dern.
Dern’s striking still needs a lot of work, but she will be working on a game plan to engage in a stand-up battle to set up the takedown. Andrade is a strong grappler, but her takedown defence is mediocre and Dern will be relentless in the pursuit.
If she can get the fight to the deck, the jiu-jitsu champion will aggressively hunt the submission. Andrade is also a black belt, but it is tough to see her defence holding up. That said, there is always value on her as the underdog.
