Man Utd vs. Wolves Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips

The opening round of Premier League fixtures conclude at Old Trafford on Monday night where Man Utd host Wolves, live on Sky Sports at 8pm.

Jimmy The Punt has previewed the first Monday Night Football clash of the season, and picked out his two best bets for the action.

Erik ten Hag will look to build on a promising maiden campaign last season: Europa League quarter-finals, FA Cup finalists, EFL Cup winners, and Champions League qualification.

Man Utd may have finished third in the Premier League but they were nine points off Arsenal and 14 off title winners and rivals Man City, closing that gap will be a top priority this campaign.

Splashing £165.5m in the transfer window on Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana is certainly a statement of intent.

The latter two should start on Monday evening, Mount slotting in alongside Bruno Fernandes and Anthony with Marcus Rashford spearheading the attack. Hojlund joins six other absentees all injured.

It has been a funny summer for the visitors. Julen Lopetegui performed a mini miracle keeping Wolves in the division last season but grew frustrated with the club's restrictions in the transfer market. It’s why he won’t be in the dugout at Old Trafford on Monday.

His successor, Gary O'Neil, also performed minor miracles last season on the south coast, steering Bournemouth clear of the drop, despite being touted by many for an instant return to the Championship.

O'Neil inherits a side in transition. The stalwarts from the Championship and beyond are all moving on - Ruben Neves, Raul Jiminez, Conor Coady and Nathan Collins all gone - while Matheus Cunha has come in for a hefty fee.

Man Utd vs Wolves Tips

Man Utd -1.5 (Asian Handicap)

The -1.5 asian handicap and the normal -1 handicap are literally the same bet, just the former is fractionally better odds.

For either to win, the hosts will have to win by a two goal margin and I fancy Man Utd to do so comfortably.

The Red Devils made Old Trafford a fortress last season; only Man City won more points on home soil. In total 48 points were won, with Man Utd only dropping points in four games, losing just once.

Against sides in the bottom half, they took 26 points from a possible 30 and covered this handicap in six of the eight wins.

Marcus Rashford 2+ Goals

Man Utd averaged 2.4 goals at home last season. 76.5% (13) of Marcus Rashford's goals came at home and eight of those were against bottom half dwellers.

United should have plenty of opportunities. The Wanderers conceded 16 goals in their six away trips to the ‘big six’ last season, failing to score in any of those games.

Bet365's popular "2 Goals Ahead Early Payout Offer" remains in place for at least the rest of 2023.

Simply place a pre-match bet on the standard Full Time Result market for your chosen match e.g. Man Utd vs Wolves.

If the team you backed to win goes 2 goals ahead at any stage during the match, bet365 will pay out your bet in full regardless of whether the opposition comes back to draw or win the match.
