Manchester United find themselves in a precarious position in Group A of the Champions League.
Two defeats in their first two games has left Erik ten Hag’s team with plenty of work to do in their bid to reach the last 16 of Europe’s foremost competition.
On matchday one United suffered a 4-3 defeat by Bayern Munich. The scoreline suggested a close contest, but in truth the Red Devils were second best in every department at the Allianz Arena.
Losing to Bayern, one of the leading contenders to win the Champions League, is far from a disaster. But the 3-2 loss to Galatasaray on matchday two was more damaging, especially as it came at Old Trafford.
Another defeat on matchday three would leave United’s hopes of progression hanging by a thread. Realistically Ten Hag’s side need to win both games against Copenhagen and then beat Galatasaray in Turkey to secure a top-two finish.
That will not be easy, but results have at least started to turn in United’s favour. A last-gasp Scott McTominay double brought them a 2-1 victory over Brentford immediately prior to the October international break.
United then beat Sheffield United by the same scoreline at the weekend, with McTominay and Diogo Dalot on target.
Ten Hag’s men are now seeking a third victory on the bounce in all competitions, a feat they are yet to achieve this season. United should come out on top here.

Manchester United have not been firing on all cylinders of late, but they should prove too strong for Copenhagen here.

Even in the victory over Sheffield United last time out, Manchester United’s all-round performance left a lot to be desired.
On the balance of chances created, Paul Heckingbottom’s team could consider themselves unfortunate to have not picked up at least a point.
United needed a brilliant strike from Dalot to get over the line when it looked like the game was heading for a 1-1 draw.
One of the biggest criticisms of this United team is that it is hard to work out what they are trying to do when they have the ball.
Compared to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, United lack a defined attacking structure. Everything seems off the cuff and focused on individual contributions.
That will not be enough for the Red Devils to win major trophies this season, but it should not prevent them getting the better of Copenhagen this week.
The Danish team conceded two goals to both Galatasaray and Bayern Munich, and they will have their hands full in dealing with United’s attacking players at Old Trafford.
Despite their struggles so far this term, goals either side of half-time should be within United’s grasp here.

Although Manchester United have not pulled up any trees going forward, a bigger problem is their inability to keep opponents out at the other end of the field.
Even Sheffield United, the team ranked 20th out of 20 in the Premier League, found a way to score against them at the weekend.
United have kept just two clean sheets in nine games in England’s top flight - and in both matches, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley, they were fortunate to deny their opponents a goal.
They have fared even worse defensively in Europe, shipping four goals to Bayern Munich and three to Galatasaray. Of the 31 other teams in the Champions League group stage, only Royal Antwerp have conceded more.
As for Copenhagen, they stormed into a two-goal lead in Istanbul when they faced Galatasaray on matchday one and also found the net in a slender defeat by Bayern.
They will not be fazed by playing at Old Trafford. United’s defensive problems, which are compounded by the absence of key personnel such as the suspended Casemiro and the injured Lisandro Martinez, will aid Copenhagen’s attacking efforts.
Goals at both ends is an attractively priced bet in this one.
Marcus Rashford to score any time - 11/10 (bet365)
For a period last season, Marcus Rashford was one of the most in-form forwards in the Premier League, if not Europe.
After returning home from World Cup 2022, the Manchester United man scored 10 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions.
Rashford ended the campaign having had the most productive season of his career so far. He headed into 2023/24 with the intention of picking up from where he left off.
Things have not gone to plan so far, which is why Rashford is not odds-on to score at home against Copenhagen.
But it is surely only a matter of time before the England international gets going. Rashford is a confidence player, but he will not be in this slump forever.
"Everyone at Manchester United backs him. The team supports and believes in him. I'm sure with that confidence of the team behind him this will change, it will pass,” Ten Hag said earlier this month.
This could be the game in which Rashford scores his first Champions League goal since October 2021.
