Marlins vs. Giants prediction and odds for Saturday, May 20 (Value on the total)

The Miami Marlins came up short on Friday night, losing 4-3 to the San Francisco Giants in the first game of their weekend series.

Now, Miami sends lefty Braxton Garrett (-12, 5.40 ERA) to the mound on Saturday against Logan Webb (3-5, 3.20 ERA).

This should be a strong pitching matchup with the total for this game set at 7.5. Let’s dive into the odds for this game and my best bet to make:

Marlins vs. Giants prediction and pick

Garrett’s ERA is deceiving, as it has been inflated by one bad start against the Atlanta Braves (the second best offense in MLB this season) where he allowed 11 runs.

Outside of that start, Garrett has allowed two or fewer runs in six of his other seven outings. He’s coming off a strong start against Cincinnati, allowing just one run on three hits while punching out eight batters in five innings.

Webb is the better starter in this matchup, especially in the month of May, which bodes well for the UNDER. In three May starts, Webb has allowed just four runs across 21.2 innings lowering his ERA from 4.10 to 3.20 in the process.

The Marlins’ offense is bad, ranking 25th in MLB in OPS, so I wouldn’t be shocked if we get a pitchers duel on Saturday.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
