Masters Prop Bets 2024

Jon Rahm famously won his first Masters in 2023, so it’s time to turn the page to the 2024 edition. Sportsbook Review betting analyst Neil Parker examines the various 2024 Masters prop bets that will be available across our best sports betting apps.

The 2024 Masters is still months away, but we're still keeping tabs on the Masters odds and monitoring the prop bet markets.

2024 Masters prop bets explained

Welcome to the Super Bowl of spring, my friends.

Annually, the Masters breaks down the door and stomps right in with its unparalleled mythology and charm. It’s an event on the calendar that sports bettors have circled all year long.

Our best sportsbooks will be flush with prop markets for prospective bettors, and there are ample opportunities to take advantage of the available betting markets.

Masters hole-in-one props

The hole-in-one prop for the Masters is a simple two-way market with a Yes and No side.

There are four par 3s at Augusta National:

  • Hole No. 4 - Flowering Crab Apple (240 yards)
  • Hole No. 6 - Juniper (180 yards)
  • Hole No. 12 - Golden Bell (155 yards)
  • Hole No. 16 - Redbud (170 yards)

There have been 34 holes-in-one in Masters history, and 24 have come at No. 16. Only one ace has occurred at hole No. 4.

Famously, Padraig Harrington and Kirk Triplett both aced No. 16 on consecutive shots during the final round of the 2004 Masters.

For reference, Tommy Fleetwood recorded a hole-in-one during the 2021 Masters to cash the Yes at odds of -150.

DraftKings also had odds for each individual player to record a hole-in-one during the 2023 Masters.

Winning nationality props

The Masters field is always chock-full with international talents, and nationality prop markets offer opportunities for bettors to wager on collections of players from different countries, continents, and regions of the world.

Masters cut line props

Sportsbooks will post numerous markets involving the cut line ahead of the Masters. Top individual golfers will have their own odds for whether they’ll make the cut, and there will also be Over/Under markets for the cut number.

The Over/Under total through DraftKings was 146.5 for the 2023 Masters, with the Over priced at -140 and the Under trading at +115.

Masters playoff props

The Masters required a playoff in 17 of its 87 editions. It’s a sudden-death format, and the last time there was a playoff needed to determine the winner was in 2017 when Sergio Garcia defeated Justin Rose with a birdie on the opening playoff hole.

The playoff prop for the Masters is another two-way market with Yes and No sides. Yes was priced at +350 and No was -500 for the 2023 Masters through BetMGM.

DraftKings also had three playoff markets available with props for whether it would be a three-man playoff (+1400) or a four-or-more-man playoff (+6500) for the 2023 tournament.

Wire-to-wire winner props

Winning a golf tournament wire-to-wire means the same golfer led the tournament following each of the four rounds of play. There have been five wire-to-wire winners at the Masters. The wire-to-wire winner prop is either a two-way market with Yes and No sides or a one-way market, depending on the sports betting site.

Masters course record to be broken props

The 18-hole record at the Masters is 63 (minus-9) set by Nick Price in 1986, and then matched by Greg Norman 10 years later in 1996.

Rory McIlroy shot 64 during the final round of the 2022 Masters. It was the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament, and the lowest-single-round score since Jason Day, Tony Finau, and Patrick Cantlay all carded 64s during Round 3 of the 2019 Masters.

Dustin Johnson set the 72-hole record in 2020 with a four-round score of 268 (minus-20). However, it’s definitely worth noting the 2020 Masters was held in November, and not April.

Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth have combined for the second-lowest, 72-hole score at 270 (minus-18), and they respectively posted their score in 1997 and 2015.

DraftKings had a one-way market of whether the course record will be broken with the Yes priced at +1600 for the 2023 Masters.

Masters double eagle props

A double eagle is also known as an albatross, and it’s a three-under-par score on a single hole. For example, carding a hole-in-one on a par 4 or holing out with the second shot on a par 5.

There have been four double eagles in Masters history.

DraftKings had a one-way market that there would be an Albatross priced at +1200 last year.

Winning score props

The winning score prop is an Over/Under bet on a total set by oddsmakers ahead of the Masters. DraftKings has the winning score total at 275.5, with the Over priced at +100 and the Under trading at -120.

Sportsbooks also have props for what the margin of victory will be.

Caesars had two unique offerings in the winning margin market. It has options for 4 and 5+ strokes, which were respectively +850 and +450 for the 2023 Masters.

First-time-winner props

Three golfers have won the Masters in their first appearance. However, it’s important to note that two of those players won in the first two Masters tournaments in 1934 and 1935.

Fuzzy Zoeller is the last debutant to win in his first Masters appearance in 1979.

Because it’s proven so rare for an Augusta National rookie to win the Masters, bettors are often better off exploring the betting market for Top Debutant. There have still been numerous impressive debut finishes over the past 20 years.

First-round-leader props

The first-round leader is determined following the first round of play, and the golfer with the lowest 18-hole score is the winner. It’s a popular market in all tournaments because though the best player will often win over four rounds, there’s far more variability over just 18 holes of play.

Sportsbooks will post odds similar to the outright winner market.

Masters props betting tips

We all love the Masters because Augusta National is a true test: It’s fair, it’s gettable, and it’s absolutely ruthless all at the same time.

There’s a reason the same players score well year in, year out. And it’s not that it takes a particular skill set to be successful. Every aspect of the game needs to be clicking to conquer the nuances of Augusta National, and course knowledge and experience is invaluable.

After all, nine of the past 11 winners played in at least three Masters before donning their first Green Jacket.

Additionally, a quick peek at the recent winners and successful finishers at the Masters reveals a list of golfers who’ve typically headed to Augusta in solid form. They’ve also almost always had recent success at another major championship.

Statistically, I value strokes gained: around-the-green far more than in any other tournament. With Augusta also dubbed a second-shot course, I’m also heavily weighing SG: approach.
