May 5 NHL picks today: Make New Jersey part of Hurricanes vs. Devils best bets for Game 2?

There's just one game on the slate but we've still got several Devils vs. Hurricanes predictions for Game 2 to make up our NHL picks today.

Devils vs. Hurricanes predictions: New Jersey moneyline (-105 or better)

After losing Game 1 in embarrassing fashion, bet on the Devils to get square and emerge from Game 2 with a victory.

The Devils were coming off of an emotionally-charged series that went seven games against the Rangers while the Hurricanes had been resting after taking care of the Islanders.

New Jersey successfully stole home-ice advantage back from the Rangers with Games 3 and 4 wins in the first round, and a Game 2 win on the road would do the same thing here with a refocused Akira Schmid in goal.

Hurricanes vs. Devils picks: NHL best bets for Game 2 including Jack Hughes props

Below are two NHL props today inlcuding a bet for Devils star Jack Hughes ahead of Friday's game.

Hurricanes vs. Devils player props: Jack Hughes over 3.5 shots (-128 or better)

The Devils will go as far as Jack Hughes can take them, and it starts on offense for the 99-point scorer during the regular season.

While he only managed to get two shots on goal in Game 1, Hughes has been firing them at the net throughout this postseason.

He’s got 34 shots through eight games, good for over four per game, including 19 in three road games against the Rangers.

Since he’s averaging 4.25 shots per game, taking him to get more than 3.5 is a good look, especially considering Lindy Ruff's comments on wanting the Devils to shoot more.

Devils vs. Hurricanes props: Brent Burns Under 0.5 points (+105 or better)

Brent Burns is one of the best players on the Hurricanes but getting plus money odds for him to not record a point is too good to pass up.

While he does have five points through seven playoff games, he has no points in his last three appearances. He also was far off a point per game during the regular season.

Take Burns to go without a point in Game 2 and enjoy the great odds that you get for doing so. If the Devils are going to even the series, it makes for an even better chance that this bet hits.
