‘Me and Ja not the same:’ Jack Jones speaks out on Ja Morant comparisons

Jack Jones has remained quiet on Twitter since being arrested in June on a slew of weapons charges after Boston Logan Airport authorities say they found two guns and ammunition in his carry-on bag.

The Patriots cornerback addressed Memphis Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant on Twitter in May after he was seen with a gun on Instagram for the second time in three months. Jones told Morant to “put the gun downs,” before getting arrested a month later.

The May 15 tweet resurfaced after Jones’ arrest, and he had been quiet on social media until he fired off two tweets Tuesday — one having to do with teammate Matthew Judon’s Madden rating and the other about not being the same as Morant.

“Y’all twitters birds. I’ll never argue wit nerds..,” Jones tweeted. “Me and ja not the same..”

Morant was never arrested, but was suspended 25 games by the NBA. Jones pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last month and will have a probable cause hearing Aug. 18. Two of the counts he’s facing carry a mandatory 2½ years in prison if convicted.

Jones remains rostered by the Patriots as of July 18, though his future with the team is unclear. New England will have to decide whether keeping the talented but troubled corner is worth the risk.
