Miami Hurricanes 2022 position recap: Special Teams
The Miami Hurricanes football team had a forgettable 2022 season. The special teams unit shined.
The Miami Hurricanes special teams didn't allow any touchdowns in 2022. They allowed only 13 kickoff returns for an average of 18.2 yards per return. Lou Hedley and his team allowed a mere 15 punt returns.
Key’Shawn Smith was exciting to watch on kickoff returns. He has since transferred to SMU. The Canes” punt returning in 2022 wasn't bad by any means. Jacolby George was the best returner of the bunch.
Andres Borregales was good in his sophomore season for the Miami Hurricanes. He was named All-ACC Honorable Mention at season’s end. Bor Regales won ACC Specialist of the week twice in 2022.
Lou Hedley was a first-team All-ACC punter for Miami this season. He hit 46 balls for an average of 45.3 yards per punt. His long was 61 yards against Clemson. Hedly landed 50% of his punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.
