Michigan football's College football playoff odds

Looking ahead to the College Football Playoff for Michigan football, it feels like the Rose Bowl semifinal matchup against Alabama is going to be the most difficult test.

That's an assessment that the oddsmakers agree with as there have been odds released for every potential College Football Playoff National Championship game.

Currently, Michigan football is a 1.5-point favorite over the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl set for January 1st according to DraftKings. Most of the money has been bet on Alabama, but the line still favors the Wolverines slightly in what's essentially a pick-em game.

Yet, if Michigan football is able to beat Alabama -- a Big If -- the Wolverines would be favored in the national championship game regardless of their opponent. That's not shocking since Michigan football is the No. 1 team, but the odds don't always align with the rankings.

Michigan football would be a three-point favorite in a potential title game matchup with Texas. The Longhorns went 12-1 during the season, won the Big 12 title and won a road game over Alabama, so the Horns are going to be a difficult out for Washington, as well as the Bama-Michigan winner.

The oddsmakers don't favor Washington much. The Huskies are a 4.5-point underdog against Texas and would be a seven-point underdog against Michigan. Yet, Washington was a nine-point underdog in the Pac-12 championship game and still found a way to beat Oregon.

If Alabama beats Michigan, the No. 4 Crimson Tide would be a 4.5-point favorite against No. 2 Washington, as well as a 2.5-point favorite over Texas.
