Mill Stream and Believing supplemented for Sprint Cup at Haydock Park

Believing and Mill Stream has been supplemented at a cost of £20,000 for this Saturday's Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock Park.

The duo will take on hot favourite Shaquille – who is a best-priced evens market leader with Coral and Betfred – as 23 entries go forward to Saturday's Group One feature on Merseyide.

Mill Stream, who is owned by Peter Harris, has won his last two starts at Deauville in France. The three-year-old Gleneagles colt won the Listed Prix Moonlight Cloud at the start of last month and followed that up with victory in the Group Three Prix de Meautry last week. Both his French wins came over six furlongs – the same distance as Saturday’s contest. Mill Stream is a best-priced 11-1 with Paddy Power and sponsors Betfair. His trainer, Newmarket-based Jane Chapple-Hyam, said: “Mill Stream has come out of his Deauville race in good order, so we have decided to take the opportunity to run him again while he is good form as there are no other options for him until Champions Day.”

George Boughey's Believing was the other horse supplemented at the five-day declaration stage. Believing has won two Listed races and a Group Three contest at Chantilly this season. He is one of two potential runners for the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing team along with Karl Burke's Spycatcher, who was beaten a short head by King Gold in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville last month. Believing is a best-priced 16-1 with most bookmakers, while Spycathcer is 10-1 with the sponsors, Paddy Power, Betfred and Unibet.

The Julie Camacho-trained Shaquille is a warm favourite to continue his Group One-winning exploits on Merseyside. The three-year-old has already won at the top level this season, taking the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot before beating his elders in the July Cup at Newmarket.

Ralph Beckett has left in both Kinross and Lezoo, although the former looks unlikely to line-up at Haydock – where he has won in the past – following recent victories in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and the City Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire. Lezoo is set to line-up on Merseyside following his own win in the Listed Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket last week. Kinross is a 6-1 chance with William Hill should the trainer change his mind, while Lezoo is a best-priced 16-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

Aidan O'Brien has two entries in Aesop's Fables and The Antarctic and other possibles for the Group One sprint are Ed Bethell's course and distance winner Regional, the William Haggas-trained Sacred – second in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot – and July Cup runner-up Run To Freedom from Henry Candy's stable. Sacred is a 14-1 chance with William Hill, while is 16-1 with a number of firms.

Betfair spokesman, Barry Orr, said: “Shaquille is the star turn and, even with the stable’s form a cause for concern, he is clear favourite topping the betting at a shade of odds-on – 10-11. It’s great to see Jane Chapple-Hyam roll the dice and supplement the fast-improving Mill Stream. That’s another three-year-old who is sure to have his supporters at 14-1.”
