MLB 2023: Hall of Fame Election Betting Prediction

Life without MLB matchups is very sad. Baseball means warm weather, and there is always constant action throughout the 162-game MLB season. It feels weird going from checking the MLB injury report all day to staring at the calendar, waiting for the best MLB players to be back.

There may be snow across much of the world and no baseball being played, but MLB is about to honor some of the best to ever play the sport.

Tuesday marks the announcement of the MLB 2023 Hall of Fame. Many players focus on one thing, winning a championship, but after hanging up the cleats, this is a big honor.

Only the best of the best get their name remembered forever in Cooperstown, and Tuesday, the next group will be honored.

Who do you think will be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame this year?Hall of Fame predictions.

Which Players are in the Running?

In November, MLB announced the 28-player list for the MLB 2023 Hall of Fame ballot. Of course, you had guys that have been fighting for a spot for years, but some newbies joined the list as well.

MLB works in a way many of the major sports work. In the future, Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina will likely be members of the Hall of Fame. As for now, the two St. Louis Cardinals greats are not eligible. To be eligible, a player must have spent ten years in the league and have been retired for five seasons. Since that is the case, only players who retired from MLB in 2017 or before can be considered for this cycle.

Looking at those headlining, the potential MLB Hall of Fame 2023 are Alex Rodriguez, Scott Rolen, Manny Ramirez, and Carlos Beltran. When it comes to newcomers, Beltran is at the top of the list.

How is a Player Selected?

First and foremost, a former MLB player can only be considered to join the Hall of Fame for ten years. If they are not elected during that timespan, oh well, you still had a great career. A player must also receive at least 5% of votes to be on the ballot the following year. Unfortunately, Shoeless Joe Jackson is not eligible to be in the MLB 2023 Hall of Fame.

Only members of the BBWAA can vote on who enters the MLB Hall of Fame 2023. This group of individuals are writers who have spent ten or more years covering MLB. They have to be appointed as a member of the BBWAA.

Each member is allowed up to 10 votes on their ballot. No write-in votes are permitted, and they must vote for one of the 28 players on the list. Finally, any player who receives 75% or more of the vote will be elected into the Hall of Fame.

The Best of the Best

Hall of Fame Prediction

Only a small handful will have the honor of being elected into the MLB 2023 Hall of Fame. Seven former MLB players were elected in 2022, and that number will likely be much lower this year. Usually, around four retired players will join the Hall, but that may be a stretch this year.

Scott Rolen is going to be elected come Tuesday. If he does not, he will make it in 2024, but this should be his year. The vote will be incredibly close to 75% and either be just over or just under. He received over 63% of the votes last year.

Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran, Andruw Jones, Gary Sheffield, Manny Ramirez, and Billy Wagner will not be elected. These are the big names on the ballot, but they will come up just shy of the prize. No first-year options will make it, with Beltran leading the way in his group.

He has the stats, but many voters may associate him with the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal. We know how much the voters value integrity in baseball. Just look at the past voting with guys like A-Rod, Barry Bonds, and more.

Todd Helton will also be elected. He may also very well lead all voting. All signs are pointing to this being a two-player class. Anything can happen come Tuesday night, but for now, bet on Rolen and Helton being elected.
