Major League Baseball 2024 AL and NL MVP Odds and Expert Predictions

MLB squads are heading to Florida and Arizona for Spring Training, and it is never too early to look at MVP odds for the upcoming regular season. The 2023 campaign brought fans two monster MVP Award-winners in Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna Jr. Both look like strong contenders again, with an opportunity to become back-to-back winners since Miguel Cabrera accomplished that feat in 2013. The American League is wide open after the two-way sensation made the jump to the National League. It is also not a guarantee Ohtani wins this year’s race due to being limited to only a DH role after arm surgery. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best bets for the AL and NL MVP races.

Doc’s Sports offers MLB expert picks for every game on our baseball predictions page.

American League MVP Odds

Aaron Judge +550 – Juan Soto +600 – Yordan Alvarez +800 – Corey Seager +1000 – Julio Rodriguez +1100

Adley Rutschman +1300 – Gunnar Henderson +1500 – Kyle Tucker +1700 – Mike Trout +2000

Bobby Witt Jr. - +2200 – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - +2200 – Rafael Devers +2800

Juan Soto, New York Yankees +600

This young stud is on a Hall of Fame trajectory and now gets to play at Yankee Stadium, where the short right porch favors left-handed hitters. He has proven in his career he can rise to the occasion. He led the Washington Nationals to their first World Series title at just 21 years of age. He also won the 2022 Home Run Derby as he was drowned in trade rumors. He finished last season with 35 home runs, 109 RBIs, and hit .275. If the Yankees have a bounce back season, this guy will be one of the main reasons why.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers +1000

The only question mark surrounding this World Series champion is his health. Despite playing in only 119 games in the 2023 season, he led the American League with 42 doubles and tied his career-high with 33 home runs. He also posted a .327/.390/.623 slash line in ’23. Seager should be ready for Opening Day after hernia surgery in the offseason. If he can stay on the field for 145+ games, Seager can put up some insane numbers at the plate. He could easily go from 2023 AL MVP runner-up to 2024 MVP winner.

Julio Rodriguez, Seattle Mariners +1100

The American League is wide open this year with Ohtani departing to the NL. Rodriguez is only 23-years-old and finished 4th in the AL MVP race one season ago. The sky's the limit for this young and talented superstar, who put up a 30/30 season with Gold Glove-caliber defense. He provides the most upside, because he did all of this after struggling in the first half of the season in ’23. Rodriguez posted a .721 OPS in the first half, then had a sizzling .941 OPS in the second half. Look for Rodriguez to start where he left off last year.

National League MVP Odds

Ronald Acuna Jr. +550 – Mookie Betts +650 – Shohei Ohtani +650 – Fernando Tatis Jr. +1000

Bryce Harper +1000 – Freddie Freeman +1200 – Matt Olson +1400 – Corbin Carroll +1800

Manny Machado +2200 – Trea Turner +2200 – Austin Riley +2500 – Francisco Lindor +2800

Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves +550

We are going to fade Ohtani in this spot due to his arm injury and limited DH role in 2024. There is no reason that Acuna Jr. cannot be even better than he was last year. The Braves biggest superstar hit 41 home runs and tallied 73 stolen bases. His power and speed are the best in the game. Early projections have the outfielder hitting 38 home runs and swiping 56 bags this upcoming season. He would be the first player ever to with multiple 30-50 seasons, and those projections are on the conservative side. We have not seen a back-to-back MVP since Cabrera in 2013, but Acuna possesses the abilities to repeat in 2024.

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers +650

Bett’s narrative can set him up for MVP honors in 2024. He hit .307 last year with 39 home runs, 40 doubles, and 107 RBIs. Betts put up all these numbers despite a September funk that ruined his 2023 MVP aspirations. Now, he enters this season making a full-time move from the outfield to second base. If he can make the switch efficiently, his elite offense is more valuable from a middle-infield spot over a corner-outfield spot. He might have a great case for 2024 MVP.

Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks +1800

The 23-year-old had a phenomenal 2023 season that saw him win the NL Rookie of the Year and lead his squad to a World Series appearance. He possesses the same speed and power as Ronald Acuna Jr., finishing the 2023 season with 25 home runs and 54 stolen bases. Carroll could be the fourth player in the last 20 seasons to follow up a Rookie of the Year award with an MVP. Kris Bryant did this in 2016, Dustin Pedroia in 2008, and Ryan Howard in 2006. If Carroll displays the same skill set and leads the Diamondbacks into the playoffs, he could easily punch his ticket for MVP.
