The start of the 2024 MLB regular season is approaching rapidly. Before Opening Day, we get to take some money, not a lot, and have fun with it.
Even though we do have Spring Training as a guide, it is still difficult to predict how an MLB team will start the season. There are 162 games, of course, and rarely do we see wire-to-wire division winners.
As a result of this, we are provided with high-paying odds, that if you know where to look, have a good amount of betting value for how a particular team will perform at the start of the season.

Race to 10 Wins
Los Angeles Dodgers: +250
San Diego Padres: +750
Even though we are still nearly two weeks away from the start of the 2024 MLB regular season on March 28, we can't forget about the Seoul Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, taking place in the capital of South Korea on March 20th and 21st.
That kills a bet here on both LA and San Diego for me. Not only is the value on these two significantly lower than any other team, but now they have two games on the other side of the planet to start the season a week early.
Atlanta Braves: +1200
Atlanta starts the season with a series against the Philadelphia Phillies, a team, until the Braves prove otherwise, has their number.
Houston Astros: +1300
Houston starts the season off with three difficult series against the Yankees, Blue Jays, and Rangers. Good luck.
Baltimore Orioles: +1300
The Orioles are a young team that I could see coming out of the gates on fire in 2024. They have three favorable series, two of which are at home, to start the year against the Angels, Royals, and Pirates.
Texas Rangers: +1700
World Series hangover take one.
New York Yankees: +1900
The Yankees start the season with four games in Houston, three in Arizona, and return to the Bronx to host the Blue Jays. That's rough.
Seattle Mariners: +2000
The Mariners host the Red Sox and Guardians. Then, they travel to Milwaukee. I liked them at this payout before I saw the schedule, and I love them now.

Maybe we can cover ourselves a bit here with the (+200) with a bet on no team to start the season 5-0. Out of our two picks to start the season 10-0, I say there is a good chance that one of them starts out 5-0.

I know we said that it’s difficult to trust them to win two overseas games to start the season, but I think the line reflects that.
With the addition of Japanese superstars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Dodgers look to be the best team in baseball in 2024. Mookie Betts, Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy…
They brought in Tyler Glasnow to be their ace. I love the value here on LA.

Baltimore Orioles to Start the Season 5-0

Here we go with the Baltimore Orioles once more. What I like about them is their youth and trajectory. They may not have all the superstars we just mentioned for the Dodgers, but this lends itself toward a stronger unit come Opening Day.
LA will be awesome because they are an All-Star team. I just believe that Baltimore will be one of the more fight-ready teams already biting down on their imaginary mouthpieces in the first week of the season.

This is the value pick of the century. The LA Dodgers have to get through the Seoul Series, yes, but the true test is getting past the soju. In all seriousness, I think it’s going to be a long year for the rest of the league.
