Mobile sports betting goes live in Maryland on Wednesday
Maryland will allow mobile sports gambling starting Wednesday at 9 a.m. The state's Sports Wagering Application and Review Commission cleared 10 operators at its meeting last week, but only seven completed the final testing and performance hurdles. The launch is in time for fans to place bets on Thanksgiving Day NFL action, college football rivalry weekend, this week’s slate of NBA games, the 2022 World Cup and this Sunday”s Ravens and Commanders games.
Barstool Sportsbook, BetMGM, Caesars Sports, Fanatics, DraftKings, and FanDuel are the current mobile sportsbook operators in Maryland. The three that are expected to receive the final all-clear are BetFred, BetParx and Fanatic. The state lottery and gaming control agency is reviewing applications from 11 additional mobile wagering operators. Mobile sports betting is expected in the state to generate up to $30 million in 2023 and $100 million by 2027.
