Mobile sports betting to launch in Maryland next week. It took two years for the state to approve mobile sports bets. The first mobile bets could start being placed before Thanksgiving. Mobile sports books are expected to bring in $26 million in the first year alone. By year five, mobile betting is expected to generate $100 million dollars. Virginia and D.C. already have their sports bettors' apps. John Martin, the Maryland Lottery Director, explains the delay in getting mobile gambling up and running.
