Montana vs. South Dakota: Coyotes players to watch

Montana Grizzlies (1-0) host the unranked South Dakota Coyotes (0-1) at Washington-Grizzly Stadium at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Carson Camp is a sophomore quarterback from Bloomington, Illinois. He has started 17 games in his third year as a starter. Last week, he was 18-of-34 passing for 139 yards and one interception in a 34-0 loss to Kansas State.

Travis Theis is a sophomore running back from Pratt, Kansas. He was the 2018 Kansas high school all-class offensive player of the year. Shomari Lawrence ran 14 times for 84 yards last week.

Carter Bell is a sophomore wide receiver from Bettendorf, Iowa. Bell earned preseason first-team all-conference honors as an all purpose back and second-teams recognition as a receiver entering this season. Last year, Bell led the team with 41 catches for 673 yards and five touchdowns.

Alex Jensen had his streak of 28 straight starts snapped last week. Jensen is a Stats Perform preseason second-team All-American. He was a preseason first- team All MVFC selection this fall.

Nick Gaes is a sophomore defensive lineman from Alta, Iowa. Gae was named to the Hero Sports FCS freshman All-America team and the MVFC all-newcomer team last season. He finished with 35 tackles to rank sixth on the team.

Brock Mogensen is a junior linebacker from Farmington, Minnesota. He was given Hero Sports preseason third-team All-America honors and preseason first-teams all-conference recognition this fall. Last year, he ranked eighth in MVFC with 7.2 tackles per game and 86 total tackles.

Montana's secondary is the focus of the game against South Dakota. Myles Harden, a sophomore cornerback, is back from an injury that limited him to the first six games last season. Harden had been coming off a stellar spring 2021 season in which he made the Hero Sports FCS freshman All-America Team and earned All MVFC honorable mention status.

Wesley Eliodor is a junior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who was All-MVFC honorable mention as a return specialist last season. He had a 99-yard kick return TD against Missouri State. Carter Bell ran back 14 punts for 132 yards and a touchdown last year.
