My ideal 2023 Detroit Tigers lineup: free agents, cutting ties with Miggy

The Detroit Tigers have taken several steps backwards in the last year. A new GM is coming in.

Riley Greene will be the 2023 Detroit Tigers leadoff hitter. Victor Reyes will play in the second spot. Trea Turner will cost $30 million annually. Jose Abreu will replace Miguel Cabrera as the clean up hitter and play at 3rd base. Javier Baez will move to the 5th spot in a new GM's list. He will probably cost around $9 million per year. He would play there for 3 years. The team would also need to find a replacement for Cabrera. His contract is up in 2022. It's time to move on. They should look for someone with two healthy knees. This player would be a good fit for the Central Division.

The 2022 Detroit Tigers spent about $77 million on their hitters. The 2023 Detroit Tiger's lineup would cost around $95 million. Turner and Abreu would be worth about that.

The 2023 Detroit Tigers are not guaranteed to make the playoffs next year. However, a return to competitive baseball with meaningful games in September would be a great change of pace in Comerica Park.
