Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal date, start time, card, PPV price & odds for 2024 boxing fight featuring MMA greats

Two of the hardest-hitting fighters with colorful personalities are ready to fight one another for the first time since 2019. However, this time, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are trading in MMA gloves and a cage for boxing gloves and the squared circle.

Diaz and Masvidal will clash inside the Kia Forum in California in a ten-round fight at 175 pounds. The fight is presented by Fanmio PPV, which fittingly promoted Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul in 2021.

Diaz made his MMA debut in 2004 and competed for WEC and Strikeforce. Joining the UFC in 2007, Diaz won The Ultimate Fighter 5 lightweight tournament. He went 16-11 in the UFC in 27 contests, competing in wars against some of the best fighters out there. Diaz became a household name in 2016 thanks to his rivalry with Conor McGregor, going 1-1 against him.

Following that series, Diaz fought when he wanted to. He competed in 2019 against Anthony Pettis and Masvidal, Leon Edwards in 2021, and Tony Ferguson in 2022. Diaz last fought in a boxing match against Jake Paul in August 2023, losing against "The Problem Child" but forcing the YouTuber to use up his energy.

Masvidal made his MMA debut in 2003. After competing for promotions such as AFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, and World Victory Road, "Gamebred" made his UFC debut in 2013. He went 12-10 for the promotion. His win against Ben Askren was the fastest knockout in UFC history.

The 39-year-old ended his MMA career with four straight losses. He lost to Kamaru Usman in multiple fights for the UFC welterweight title. Masvidal then went the distance against rival Colby Covington before Gilbert Burns beat him in a one-sided affair in Miami, where he got a standing ovation from all his fans.

The Masvidal fight was for the BMF Title, with Diaz losing via TKO in a contest Masvidal controlled in the latter half. Diaz looks to get a win back, this time under boxing rules.

“Nate’s a dead man walking,” said Masvidal. “I can’t wait to prove that last time was no fluke. He got saved by the referee. Now we are boxing, which he says is his forte, but he’s got no shot at beating me. I’m not going to give him an inch in that ring to even breathe. If he thought our MMA match was bad, this is going to be much worse. I’m going to drown him. I want to put away any talk that him and I are the same, or that the referee saved the day. All of that talk ends June 1. Violence and throwing hands are in both of our bloods, but as I proved before, I’m a far superior athlete, and I’m a meaner fighter. When June 1 comes, I’ll put all unanswered questions to rest, live for the world to see.”
