NBA betting futures: New-look Portland Trail Blazers facing long odds in 2023-24 season

Coming off their worst back-to-back seasons in nearly 20 years, the Portland Trail Blazers shook things up in a major way in late September, trading seven-time All-Star/all-time franchise scoring leader Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Then, after receiving Jrue Holiday from the Bucks as part of the mega, three-team deal, the Blazers turned around and flipped the 2022-23 All-Star guard to the Boston Celtics for a package of players and future draft picks.

Following, we break down the Trail Blazers’ 2023-24 futures odds, including their regular season win total as well as their Northwest Division and postseason outlooks.

Even though Portland finished 33-49 a season ago and is off to a 2-3 start this fall, oddsmakers’ expectations remain low.

The Blazers finished last in the five-team Northwest in 2022-23 and have only won two division titles in the last 24 seasons. Those came in 2018 and 2015, respectively.

Through five games, Portland’s odds to win the Northwest stand at a consensus +15200 — easily trailing the Nuggets (-378), Oklahoma City Thunder (+525), Minnesota Timberwolves (+555) and Utah Jazz (+4400).

With the aforementioned basement regular season win total and overall strength of the Western Conference, it should be no surprise that Portland’s odds of landing one of the West’s eight playoff berths is a consensus league-low +1533.
