Despite an 0-5 start, the Grizzlies quickly moved to a consensus 1.5-point road favorite Friday with a game total of 218.5 points.

Portland (2-3) has won two straight after an 0-3 start and is coming off a 110-101 comeback win in Detroit on Wednesday night as the Blazers erased an 18-point deficit.

Shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe scored 26 of his team-high 29 points in the second half, bumping his team-leading season scoring average to 20.2 points per outing.

Forward Jerami Grant (18.2), guard Malcolm Brogdon (18.2) and center Deandre Ayton (10.2) also own double-digit scoring averages for the Blazers, who are 27th among 30 teams with a 103.8 offensive rating and 13th with a 109.3 defensive rating through Wednesday.

The short-handed Grizzlies, meanwhile, come to the Pacific Northwest as the NBA’s only winless team.

Guards Desmond Bane (24.6 ppg) and Marcus Smart (16.0) and forward Jaren Jackson (18.8) are the top scorers for Memphis, which ranks last in offensive rating (102.5) and 22nd defensively (113.7).

As aforementioned, Portland and Memphis are part of the five-team West Group A for the league’s new in-season tournament, joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.

Each squad will play the other four teams in their group on Tuesday and Friday nights in November. The six group winners and two wild cards then advance to the knockout bracket in December with the remaining 22 teams headed to consolation play.

All games aside from the Dec. 9 tournament championship will count in the regular season standings.

It’s been nothing short of a struggle so far for the Grizzlies, who have opened the season without three of their best players in suspended guard Ja Morant, injured center Steven Adams (out for the season) and injured forward Brandon Clarke.

Memphis is being outscored by an NBA-worst 11.4 points per contest.

The Blazers have their own injury issues with talented guard Anfernee Simons out 4-to-6 weeks with a thumb injury, but Portland will have the personnel edge Friday.

Add in the home court advantage, and we’ll take Portland and the points with the moneyline an option as well with the short spread.
