NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, October 25

Simmons Over/Under 13.5 Points + Rebounds

Anyone who watched even five minutes of the NBA preseason could see that Ben Simmons is moving significantly better this year than he did last season. In addition to passing the eye test, Simmons also posted strong statistics – totaling at least 15 rebounds + assists in each of his last three games played to end the preseason. Notably, Simmons put up these numbers while playing an average of 24.7 minutes per game. On opening night, Simmons should see closer to 30 minutes in a game that actually matters. Simmons did a profile in Esquire magazine this off-season, which is as clear of a sign as any that he feels physically capable of producing at a high level during the upcoming campaign. This looks like one of the more mispriced lines on Wednesday’s slate, acknowledging that Simmons is obviously a high-variance player early this season from a betting perspective.

  • PICK: Simmons OVER 13.5 Points + Rebounds (-110), BetMGM

Okongwu Over/Under 15.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Earlier this week, the Atlanta Hawks and Onyeka Okongwu agreed to a four-year, $62 million contract extension, making it abundantly clear that the organization sees him as a priority player for the next few years. Okongwu scored at least 11 points in each of his four preseason games played, despite not playing more than 26 minutes in any of those contests. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists across his last three preseason games played. Okongwu played a considerable amount of power forward during training camp and the preseason, which means his path to playing time is not limited to non-Clint Capela minutes this season. In an expanded role, this market number is far too low for Okongwu on opening night.

  • PICK: Okongwu OVER 15.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-125), BetMGM

Brooks More/Less Than 11.5 Points

Dillon Brooks is unquestionably one of the least productive players in the NBA, relative to his reputation and his contract. That being said, the Houston Rockets committed over $80 million to Brooks across the next four years, so it is highly probable that he has an integral role in the offense out of the gate to begin the new campaign. Brooks did not eclipse this market number in any of his games played during the preseason, but he took eight field goal attempts and 10 field goal attempts, respectively, in his last two tune-up contests prior to tonight. It stands to reason that he will play at least a handful more minutes in Houston’s regular season opener, meaning that the volume should be there for him to be competitive at this market number on Wednesday night.

  • PICK: Brooks THAN 11.5 Points
