New Jersey gets it right with fixed-bet horse racing wagers
New Jersey's state Senate and General Assembly voted to approve fixed-odds wagering for horse races. Monmouth Park's partner BetMakers will offer this betting market alongside existing mutuel pools. Betmakers has a 10-year deal with Monmmouth and has agreements with Colonial Downs, Emerald Downs and Grants Pass Downs. Stronach Group, the New York Racing Association and Churchill Downs Inc. are not on board. They will fall in line eventually. The public will demand it. It. is a reason to celebrate for the horseplayers. They are already winners because of the expansion of options.
