New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves Best Bets and Prediction

Wednesday is here, and it is a phenomenal day for sports fans. Game 3 of the NBA Finals will be underway, as well as a fantastic slate of MLB action. Our attention will be focused on the New York Mets(30-31, third in NL West) vs Atlanta Braves (36-24, first in NL West).

Game one of the three-game series took place last night, and it was a nail-biter. If Wednesday’s game between these two MLB teams is anything like that, we are in for a show. With just over 100 games left in the MLB schedule, there is still a lot of baseball to be played. However, do not be surprised if these two teams meet in October. Follow along for our Mets vs Braves prediction.

New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves

This is going to be the fifth time the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves face off in 2023. The NL West rivals will play a total of 13 MLB games between one another. Our Mets vs Braves prediction is going to look at recent trends from each team.

New York is actually coming off the receiving end of a three-game sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays. During the month of June, the Mets offense has struggled to score runs. When making your MLB picks, you should know they have not scored more than four runs in the last seven games.

The Braves are at the top of the NL West, but the Miami Marlins are riding their coattails in the MLB standings as of late. Miami is 8-2 in their last 10 games, and the Braves are just 5-5. A very strange note is that the Braves recently lost a series against the Oakland Athletics, which is shocking, to say the least. The Braves hold a 3-1 series lead against the Mets so far in the season.

In terms of MLB stats, the New York Mets should have a little better numbers. They were projected to be a World Series contender, but are sitting at the .500 mark. The Mets standings are not where they should be, but their pitching staff should be able to turn it around.

Max Scherzer will take the mound for New York on Wednesday. The two-colored-eyed pitcher is 5-2 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and has 48 strikeouts through 47.2 innings pitched. He has allowed just a combined four earned runs in his last four starts.

A trend to follow is that the Mets have only covered the spread in less than 40% of games this season. They are currently the third-worst MLB team in that category. They are also in the bottom eight teams in terms of hitting the over.

Although this rivalry was a lot more fun last year with the trumpets battle between William Contreras and Edwin Diaz, it is still a compelling watch. The Braves are having the season everyone expected from them. They are at the top of the NL West, and the Atlanta Braves schedule typically features a win. Charlie Morton will take the mound for Atlanta. The ageless-wonder is 5-6 with a 3.62 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and has 72 strikeouts through 64.2 IP.

Atlanta has covered the spread just twice more than New York has. They may struggle to cover the spread, but the over hits in over 57% of their games. Betting on the Atlanta moneyline has also been a big moneymaker.

With one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound, the New York Mets are still slight underdogs on the moneyline at +106 MLB odds. As the road team, the Mets will have to cover +1.5 (-190) against the spread. The overall total for the game is 8.5 runs.

The Los Angeles Angels are the favorites in our MLB picks at -116 odds. In front of their fans at Truist Park, the Braves will have -1.5 (+160) odds against the spread. The overall total for the game is 8.5 runs.

Finally, below is our Mets vs Braves prediction.

  • Pick 1: Under 8.5 (Even)
  • Pick 2: New York Mets (+106)
