Say what you want about the Chicago White Sox, the Mets in the massive favorite role isn’t something you should be running to the window to back. The Mets are the most disappointing team in the league given their payroll, and they’re one of the worst teams for bettors as well. Only the Cardinals, Padres, Athletics, and Royals have lost bettors more money this season. A $100 bettor is almost down $1,600 this season backing the Mets. The Mets are also 5-8 this season when favorites of -200 or greater. No, thank you. There’s just no value with the Mets at these prices. 

Touki Toussaint Isn’t That Bad

Touki Toussaint isn’t Justin Verlander, but he’s been respectable since coming to Chicago from Cleveland. In 20.1 innings with the White Sox, Toussaint has allowed 7 runs and 12 hits while striking out 20. It’s a small sample size, but Toussaint’s 3.10 ERA with the White Sox is the best it's ever been in his 6-year career. Toussaint still has a control issue, and he walks a lot of guys, but it’s fair to say this is the best he’s looked through nearly 200 career innings.

I don’t want to get behind the White Sox as much as the next guy, but backing the Mets at this price just doesn’t make sense. This is a game you either leave alone or take a shot in the dark with the road underdog. The Mets lose you money, and these prices don’t do anybody any good. Give me the White Sox and a potential big payout.
