Pakistan are through to the T20 World Cup Final on Sunday after defeating New Zealand by seven wickets.

The Black Caps won the toss and elected to bat first which didn't bode well.

Pakistan restricted New Zealand to 152 runs in the 20 overs while taking four wickets in an impressive bowling and fielding display.

Speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi led from the front for Pakistan with 2-24 from his four overs and his teammates followed.

Darly Mitchell (53 off 35 n.o) and Kane Williamson (46 off 42) batted well but to no avail.

The Pakistan openers (Rizwan and Azam) put the game to bed early on.

Azam and Rizwan combined for 105 in 12.4 overs and put Pakistan on their way to the last match of the tournament.

England face India on Thursday to see who joins Pakistan in the T20 World Cup Final on Sunday.

Pakistan continues to be New Zealand's kryptonite

For the fourth time, Pakistan has defeated New Zealand in a World Cup Semi Final.

Commentator Bazid Khan said that Pakistan is the Black Caps' danger side, especially when it comes to the crunch time.

“In semi finals, the kryptonite for New Zealand is Pakistan,” Khan said in the first innings.

Pakistan managed to restrict New Zealand to a chaseable score of 152 off the 20 overs.

This has been a massive turnaround given Pakistan lost the first two matches of the tournament to Zimbabwe and India.

Pakistan openers were ruthless

Pakistan were set a task when New Zealand made 152 runs in the first innings.

Insert Mohammed Rizwan and Babar Azam, who combined for 105 runs.

Azam played confidently with the bat, notching up 53 runs (seven fours) off 42 balls before being dismissed, helping set up the victory.

Rizwan contributed 57 to the run chase before being caught by Glenn Phillips.

The opening pair will be a tough task for whoever they face on Sunday.

It just wasn't New Zealand's night

The Black Caps won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that seemed to not work in their favour.

Despite a brilliant performance from Pakistan, New Zealand just couldn't seem to get their game going.

Aside from Daryl Mitchell's batting display, his teammates were unable to put pressure on Pakistan in the first innings.

In the field, the Black Caps also couldn't catch a break, putting down chances and misfielding plenty of balls.

This is the third consecutive World Cup where New Zealand have lost in the semi-final and failed to give themselves a chance at the trophy.
