Visitors to win high-scoring affair
Newcastle received a major boost as they beat rivals Sunderland 3-0 in the FA Cup last weekend but face a much tougher challenge on Saturday when they host Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Citizens will be looking to take advantage of this game in hand over their rivals in the title race to close the five-point gap to league leaders Liverpool.
There is not a team in the Premier League whose home and away form contrasts as sharply as that of Newcastle. The Magpies have picked up eight of their nine league wins at St James’ Park and their only success on their travels was an 8-0 victory over Sheffield United.
On home soil, Eddie Howe’s side will provide a stern test to their visitors as a result but their continuing injury crisis is enough to side with Manchester City.
Joelinton is crucial to the success of their midfield and is the latest player to be ruled out after picking up an injury against Sunderland.
By contrast, Pep Guardiola’s side welcomed Kevin De Bruyne back from injury in their 5-0 FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town and Erling Haaland is also approaching a return.
City have won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions and look to be gearing up for their customary title charge in the second half of the season.
They should be able to take advantage of the injury crisis that the hosts are experiencing and record another victory.
However both teams have found the net in seven of City’s last nine league games and this pair played out a pulsating 3-3 draw in this fixture last season.
Expect the Magpies to put up a fight and find the net, with the visitors’ attacking quality likely to shine through and help them secure the win.

Alexander Isak netted twice against Sunderland on Saturday, taking his tally to 13 goals in all competitions this season.
