PSG to wilt when hostilities commence

Eddie Howe’s side face a huge challenge to qualify from Group F, which also includes Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, so picking up points on home soil is essential.

They head into this contest on a five-game unbeaten run, having kept clean sheets in all of those games and not conceded since the 70th minute of the 3-1 defeat at Brighton on September 2.

The Magpies have also been flourishing in the final third, putting eight past Sheffield United before beating Manchester City 1-0 in the League Cup and defeating Burnley 2-0 last time out.

Barring a 2-1 defeat by Liverpool, Newcastle have been rock solid at home, winning their other four matches by an aggregate score of 9-1.

The absence of Sven Botman at the heart of defence might have come as a blow but they have kept out both City and Burnley without the Dutchman.

PSG will be a big test and they have talisman Kylian Mbappe fit and available for this clash, along with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani.

However, the Parisians have not totally clicked under manager Luis Enrique and at the weekend they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at Clermont Foot, who have yet to win in Ligue 1 this season.

PSG have also failed to win at Toulouse this term, drawing 1-1, and in front of a hostile crowd, the French giants may struggle and make it a night to remember for the Geordie faithful.

Newcastle vs PSG tip 1: Newcastle to win @ 16/5 with Sky Bet

Magpies eye flying start

Given it has been more than 20 years since Newcastle last hosted a Champions League match, the atmosphere will be electric on Tyneside and the Magpies will be eager for a fast start to keep the crowd at fever pitch.

Newcastle often start home clashes full of energy, as was seen on numerous occasions last season, while it was particularly evident in the visits of Aston Villa and Liverpool this term.

With Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron all in good form, expect one of that trio to get an early shot away at PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who could find himself under pressure from the off.

Newcastle vs PSG tip 2: Newcastle to have a shot on target between 00:00-09:59 @ 6/4 with Sky Bet

Trippier to deliver again

At 33, right-back Kieran Trippier continues to be a standout performer for Newcastle. His delivery from open play and set-pieces is as consistent as it gets and he has already notched a joint-high four assists in the Premier League this season, all of those coming in his past two appearances.

It would be no surprise to see him set up a team-mate for the fifth time but, while Trippier is a threat coming forward, he will have to deal with Mbappe running at him over the course of the evening and the Frenchman’s blistering pace will give the Newcastle defender problems.

The right-back has committed seven fouls in the Premier League – only four men have transgressed more for the Magpies – and he has gone into the book once.

Also joining Trippier in the book could be PSG midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who picked up his first yellow last time out in the draw with Clermont.

The 27-year-old is not afraid to stick his foot in and with the midfield battle being so crucial to the outcome, there is every chance he may overstep the mark and end up in the referee’s pad.

Newcastle vs PSG tip 3: Bet builder: Fabian Ruiz to be shown a card and Kieran Trippier to be carded and register an assist @ 64/1 with Sky Bet
