Newsboy's horseracing selections for Monday's four meetings, including Pontefract Nap

Irish Mirror

UNPLUGGED (2.00, nap) can wet the appetite of punters in the opening 21st Wilfred Underwood Memorial Handicap for female amateur jockeys over a mile and a quarter at Pontefract today.

The seven-year-old will once again be ridden by the excellent amateur rider, Serena Brotherton, who partnered the Michael and David Easterby gelding to a comfortable victory at Haydock 24 days ago over 1m 3f.

Despite his age, the selection is lightly raced and a 3lb increase is unlikely to be a hindrance. He looks sure to run a big race and can score his second win on the bounce under his capable jockey.

WHATABOUTYEH (5.20) makes a swift return to action in the Southwell Racecourse Supporting Racing Staff Week Handicap Hurdle over three miles, after cruising to a two and three-quarter-length win over seven rivals in a 3m 1f handicap chase at Cartmel three days ago.

The versatile six-year-old won over course and distance in April over the smaller obstacles and Sam England’s (above) charge, having appeared not to have exerted too much energy in his facile win at the Cumbrian track last week, should be fighting fit off the same mark.
