The NFL season is still far off, but lines have been released for one of the NFL’s biggest season-length awards. Here are our best NFL futures for Comeback Player of the Year based on current NFL odds.

The NFL regular season is still more than six months away, but lines for NFL Comeback Player of the Year are already available. NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds: Favorites

Damar Hamlin (+250 via DraftKings)

Damar Hamlin’s story is an incredible one, but this line is absolutely ridiculous. Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field against the Cincinnati Bengals, and while everyone in the world is rooting for him to take the field again, it's hard to know if he will even suit up in 2023. Additionally, there has been just one defensive player to win this award since 2008. That was Eric Berry in 2015.

If you really want to bet on Hamlin, just wait. This line is going to skyrocket as the season gets closer.

Trey Lance (+600 via DraftKings)

The second favorite for the award is another player you should stay away from. Quarterback Trey Lance plays for a great football team, but he will be on a short leash in 2023 if he even gets back on the field. Brock Purdy was great for the San Francisco 49ers when called upon and Jimmy Garoppolo also did well. There just isn’t enough value in taking Lance when he may end up sitting behind another quarterback.

Tua Tagovailoa (+650 via DraftKings)

The third favoirte offers similar value to Hamlin and Lance. The Miami Dolphins can't take any chances with Tua Tagovailoa’s health this season, especially after the way he was handled in 2022. When healthy, Tua has proven he can get the job done, and he has wide receivers that can certainly help his stats. But head injuries are unpredictable, and it’s hard to know whether Tua will make it through an entire season or not.

Of the three favorites, Tua is the best bet. But he’s still not someone we’d bet on.

Lamar Jackson (+700 via DraftKings)

Finally, someone worth placing a wager on. Lamar Jackson led the Baltimore Ravens in passing yards and rushing yards, despite only playing in 12 games this season. The key for him will be staying healthy. He's played in just 12 games in each of the last two seasons after appearing in at least 15 in his first three years.

What makes Jackson a valuable play is that he's a dual-threat and that means that he has the potential to have ridiculous numbers both running and throwing the football. If he has a good season in both areas, no one else on this list can compete with him.

Matthew Stafford (+800 via DraftKings)

Rumors swirled about Matthew Stafford retiring after last season, but he's stated that he plans on being back in 2023. Stafford has already won this award once when with the Detroit Lions. He has a fantastic receiving corps, and if the Los Angeles Rams can compete for an NFC West title, then it would be hard to imagine Stafford not topping this list. One reason we like him more than his favorite target Cooper Kupp is that a quarterback has won this award five years in a row.

Cooper Kupp (+900 via DraftKings)

Kupp played just nine games this season, and he still finished with 812 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns. If Stafford is back under center for the Rams in 2023, then Kupp is going to put up great numbers. But even if Stafford isn’t there, Kupp will still be the primary target for whoever is under center. The negatives for Kupp are that only two wide receivers have won this award since 2006, and the person who is throwing him the ball is also eligible for the award.

Von Miller (+1800 via DraftKings)

Von Miller only managed to play in 11 games this season, but he recorded eight sacks during that span. He plays for one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl in the Buffalo Bills, and his absence was very noticeable as the Bills attempted to make a run in the playoffs. It’s shocking to see this number for him, especially since he's such a household name.

Derek Carr (+2000 via DraftKings)

This award isn’t reserved for those who suffered injuries during the previous season. Sometimes, it just comes down to poor performance. In 2021, Carr led the Las Vegas Raiders to the playoffs. In 2022, he was benched at the end of the season due to his on-field performance.

We have no idea where Carr will end up this season, but if he's able to start for a team and lead a playoff berth, that may be all it takes to win him this award. Plus he’s a quarterback, and as we have continued to stress, quarterbacks tend to always win this award of late.

Jonathan Taylor (+2000 via DraftKings)

He was the No. 1 pick in most fantasy football drafts in 2022, but he did not live up to the hype. He ran the ball in just 10 games last season, compiling 861 rushing yards and just four touchdowns. The Colts are going to be bad in 2023, but there are going to be a lot of eyes on Taylor as he looks to rebound from a really bad season.

Other than the team he plays for, the main issue for Taylor is that he's a running back. There has not been a running back to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year since Garrison Hearst in 2001.
