NHL best bets today (Bet on plenty of goals in Kraken vs. Oilers)

The hot streak finally came to an end, going 1-3 with my picks yesterday to end a week-straight of profitable days.

The hot streak wasn’t going to last forever, so now it’s time to try to start a new one.

Let’s dive right into my best bets for Tuesday night’s slate.

NHL best bets record-to-date

  • 137-112-3 (+14.93 units)

NHL best bets today (Tuesday, January 17)

  • Jets/Canadiens UNDER 6 (+100)
  • Kraken/Oilers OVER 6.5 (-120)
  • Red Wings -130 vs. Coyotes

Jets/Canadiens UNDER 6 (+100)

The Montreal Canadiens have been one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL this season, especially as of late. They’re scoring only 2.1 goals per game over their last four contests. Now, they’ll likely have to face Connor Hellebuyck of the Jets, who is one of the frontrunners to win the Vezina Trophy as the top goaltender in the NHL.

Meanwhile, the Jets rank 18th in expected goals for over their last 10 games. Their shooting percentage has been high during that span, but I think we’re going to see some regression from their top-tier shooting accuracy.

I’ll take the UNDER at plus-money tonight.

Kraken/Oilers OVER 6.5 (-120)

The Seattle Kraken and Edmonton Oilers are the complete opposite of the Canadiens and Jets game. Over their last 10 games, the Kraken lead the NHL in goals per game, averaging 4.4, and the Oilers are close behind them, averaging 3.79 goals per game which ranks third during that stretch.

That means they’re scoring a combined 8.19 goals per game, which is well over the set total for tonight’s game.

Let’s sit back and rook for offense in this game.

Red Wings -130 vs. Coyotes

I’ve faded the Coyotes to no avail this season, but it’s time to try my shot at doing it once again. I still believe the Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the NHL. Over their last 10 games, they rank 30th in expected goals for and 26th in expected goals against.

The Red Wings outrank them in both those areas.

Magnus Hellberg is expected to get the start for the Red Wings tonight, and while he’s the backup, it may actually be good news for Detroit bettors. He sports a better save percentage than the starter, Ville Husso, at .901. Let’s hope he brings his “A” game tonight and secures the win for the Red Wings.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
