NHL best bets today (Don't trust the Calgary Flames)

We’re taking a step back from March Madness until the Sweet 16, so it’s time to get back to betting on the NHL.

There are five games to bet on tonight, including a pivotal Pacific Division matchup between the Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings.

I have two wagers for tonight’s slate, so let’s dive into them.

NHL best bets record season-to-date

NHL best bets today

  • Penguins -165 vs. Senators
  • Kings -110 vs. Flames

Penguins -165 vs. Senators

The Penguins are on a three-game losing streak and have gone just 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, but they’ve been playing much better than their record indicates. For example, they rank fifth in the league in 5-on-5 score and venue adjusted expected goals percentage. The Senators are 16th in that stat over the same stretch.

More importantly, the Senators goaltending situation has been a disaster. Over their last 10 games, they rank dead last in the NHL in team save percentage, stopping only 85.96% of shots on goal.

I’ll back the Penguins as home favorites in this one.

Kings -110 vs. Flames

I’m not trusting the Calgary Flames. If you’ve been following along with my NHL picks this season, you know how much I’ve been betting on the Flames. I’m finally done and have given up on them.

Despite strong analytics and statistics, they find ways to lose games night in and night out.

Tonight, they hit the road to take on a Kings team that’s third in expected goals over their last 10 games. They also have got some hot goaltending lately. Pheonix Copley has a save percentage of .942 save percentage in March.

Give me the Kings as a pick’em at home.
