NHL Preseason 2023: What are some of the most important rookies to look out for before regular season starts?

The new National Hockey League (NHL) season is going to be getting underway soon and players are being put through their paces in pre-season.

One of the most exciting elements of most sports is seeing talented young players make a name for themselves, especially if it happens against the odds.

Going into each new NHL season, fans find themselves trying to predict which rookies are going to make the biggest splash in the new campaign.

This season, there are two very obvious choices when it comes to rookies that are expected to tear it up. Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli are the names on people's lips as one of them is both a generational talent and a franchise player, whilst the other is an elite center with bags of skill and size.

Another player that many are very excited about is Logan Cooley, who is a late entry to the rookie class for the upcoming season. He had previously chosen to return to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore season after he turned pro in late July. He is expected to be the most impressive collection for the Arizona Coyotes.

Another exciting rookie is Matthew Knies, who fans did get a glimpse at last season when he showed his ability in the playoffs. Among Toronto Maple Leafs forwards, only Nylander generated more expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, and Knies ranked seventh in shot attempts per 60 minutes, just barely trailing John Tavares and Michael Bunting.
