NHL Rumors: Sabres, Flames, Penguins, Ducks, Islanders

Buffalo Sabres gave Tage Thompson an extension. Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in signing Evan Rodrigues.

Tage Thompson got a seven-year contract extension from the Sabres worth $50 million on Tuesday. He is coming off an unprecedented SH% year and is still a season away from RFA status. Jonathan Willis of The Athletic questions why the extension was given now.

Flames and Penguins are interested in signing Rodrigues. His agent Darren Ferris is having discussions with seven or eight teams. There are two or three teams that Ferrios feels he's a good fit with, but there are cap restraints.

Keith Yandle is looking for a new team. He is trying to stay in shape in the event an opportunity becomes available. If he doesn't have a contract to open the season, he's not ruling out possibly returning.

The Ducks are interested in bringing Sonny Milano back to Anaheim. Milana is waiting to see if an organization will offer him a new contract. He is stuck in the free agency logjam.

Chara is not being considered by the Islanders. Chara is as likely to consider retirement as anything. The hockey world is waiting to see if Charo makes some announcement on social media.
