Super 16: Top 5 of power rankings remain same at midseason

The midseason rankings at NHL.com are based on the Trophy Tracker series. Boston Bruins are the unanimous No. 1. Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights are in the top five.

The midseason rankings of the Super 16 power rankings are based on the voting panel's opinion. Boston Bruins are the unanimous No. 1. Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights are in the top five.

The Super 16 is the power rankings based on points, with the team selected first getting 16 points. The MVP of each team is selected by a voting panel. Los Angeles Kings are up three spots to No. 9, Seattle Kraken are 12th.

Linus Ullmark is the favorite for the Vezina Trophy. He's 22-1-0 with a 1.87 goals-against average, .938 save percentage and two shutouts.

Martin Necas is the best player for the Carolina Hurricanes this season. He is second in points (39), shots on goal (142), and ice time per game (19:26). Neca had 40 points last season and should shatter his NHL career high of 41 set in 2020-21.

Mitchell Marner is the Maple Leafs MVP through the first half. He has a 23-game point streak, the longest in the team's history.

Jason Robertson is the Dallas Stars' midseason MVP. He has 58 points in 42 games. Roope Hintz is second with 44 points.

Logan Thompson is sixth in the NHL in wins (18) and has a 2.66 GAA, .914 save percentage and two shutouts. He's a top candidate to win the Calder Trophy.

Nikita Kucherov has 59 points in 39 games this season. He had four points against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Jack Hughes is the MVP at the midway point of the season for the New Jersey Devils. He was the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Hughes will represent the Metropolitan Division at this year's NHL All-Star Game in Sunrise, Florida, on Feb. 4.

Josh Morrissey is Winnipeg Jets' MVP. He has been a key player for the team all season. His 39 assists are second among NHL defensemen behind Erik Karlsson. He's not gone more than two games without a point this season and has 46 points.

Pheonix Copley signed a one-year contract with the Kings in July. Since Covany arrived, the team is 13-5-2 in 20 games and he's supplanted Jonathan Quick as the No. 1 goalie. Covery played 31 games in four NHL seasons since 2015-16 with St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals.

Adam Fox is having a good season for the Rangers. He's third on New York with 42 points (eight goals, 34 assists). He is fourth among NHL defensemen in points, third in assists, and third among even-strength points.

Alex Ovechkin is Washington's clear MVP again. He's leading in goals (29) and points (48) in the first half of the season. Oviachkin's first-half highlights included a hat trick against the Chicago Blackhawks on Dec. 13 and two more against Jets on December 23.

Vince Dunn is the most valuable player for Seattle. He is second on the Kraken in ice time (23:36) behind Adam Larsson (24:05). He's fourth in scoring with 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) in 40 games.

Kaprizov joined the Wild in 2020-21. He has 24 goals and 49 points in his first two seasons. Since his NHL debut, he has 208 points. Leon Draisaitl is first with 257.

Sidney Crosby is Pittsburgh's most valuable player this season. He is second in the NHL in even-strength points behind Erik Karlsson. Crosby has 37 points (14 goals, 23 assists) and is plus-19 in 21 wins.

Mikko Rantanen is named the MVP of the Colorado Avalanche. He is one of six players who has played all 39 games this season. Rantsaner leads the Avalanche with 50 points.

Dahlin is the Sabres' team MVP. He's tied for second in the NHL with Morrissey for points. Thompson is third in goals, sixth in points and tied with McDavid for 2nd with 14 power-play goals.

Nashville Predators are No. 1 in the Super 16 power rankings. New York Islanders are 14th, Calgary Flames 10th.
